Dr. Hughes: In my opinion, one can receive implant treatment from any well and I mean well trained dentist that has taken the time and effort to learn surgical and restorative concepts. A WEEKEND motel course does not quite cut it. I was university trained and I am Board Certified by the American Board of Oral Implantology/ Implant Dentistry, a Fellow in the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics and an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. This preperation has raised my knowlwdge and skill. This field is too complex to rely on poorly trained generalist and specialist. One needs broad exposure and extensive training to properly perform implant dentistry.
